Las Piñas City, August 30, 2024 — Educators from both private and public schools gathered at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Las Piñas Campus for the much-anticipated Division Training of Trainers on the MATATAG Curriculum. The event aimed to enhance teaching practices and curriculum implementation across schools, featuring a full-day schedule of enriching activities.
The training commenced at 8:00 AM with breakout sessions designed to cater to individual subject areas. These sessions provided a focused environment for subject-specific discussions, allowing educators to delve deeply into the nuances of the MATATAG Curriculum and its application in their respective fields. The morning sessions fostered a collaborative atmosphere where teachers could exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices.
A plenary session was held in the afternoon from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, bringing together all attendees for a series of insightful talks by distinguished speakers. The session featured three key presentations, each addressing critical aspects of modern education:
- Dr. Gina I. Aguitez delivered an engaging presentation on Integrating 21st-century Skills in Classroom-Based Assessment. Dr. Aguitez emphasized the importance of equipping students with skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and digital literacy, and demonstrated how these competencies can be seamlessly integrated into classroom assessments to better prepare students for future demands.
- Dr. Sheila F. Soriano addressed the topic of Classroom Practices to Promote Inclusion for Special Needs Education Learners (SNED). Dr. Soriano provided valuable insights into creating an inclusive classroom environment that accommodates learners with special needs. Her talk highlighted practical strategies that teachers can implement to ensure that all students have equal access to quality education.
- Mildred T. Tuble focused on Collaborative Expertise (CE) in her presentation, underscoring the importance of teamwork and collaboration among educators. She discussed how shared knowledge and expertise can lead to more effective teaching practices and improved student outcomes, encouraging educators to work together to achieve common goals.
The event saw participation from various schools, including program supervisors from the Office of the Academic Council at Saint Francis of Assisi College.
