The International Singapore Maths Competition (ISMC) is open to all Primary 2 up to Primary 6 students. There are four different categories, four different papers. Its format and style are in contrast to most other mathematics competitions. The examination is 90 minutes long. The questions are arranged in escalating difficulty, and some of the questions towards the end are most difficult. The use of calculators is allowed for Primary 5 and 6. The paper comprises twenty-five non-routine, free-response questions. Questions 1 to 10 are worth 2 points each, questions 11 to 20 are worth 4 points each and questions 21 to 25 are worth 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 points, respectively. No penalties apply for wrong attempts. The maximum score equals 100 points.
The ISMC is organized and facilitated in the Philippines by the Maths Educators Circle (MEC).
