SFAC Administration to Sponsor Guidance Advocates’ Graduate Studies

The Administration of Saint Francis of Assisi College, headed by the President, Dr. Arturo O. Orosco, Jr., pushes for the professionalization of all Guidance Advocates in all campuses of SFAC and SAS. Last December 16, 2019, the President called for a meeting with the Department Heads who will be in charged of the implementation of the program. During the meeting, SFAC Graduate School of Business and Education (GSBE) Chairperson, Ms. Cynthia J. Bustamante presented the proposed executive course outline for the program which the President promptly approved. Other administrators who were present during the meeting include: Dr. Edgardo A. Lu, Managing Director; Dr. Aida L. Javier, Director for Academics; Dr. Gilbert C. Sibala, Executive Director for Marketing; Dr. Aries C. Roldan, Registrar and Director for Institutional Activities; Mr. Harvey Sadiasa, Program Coordinator for College; Dr. Mazen Cortina, Director for Marketing; and, Mr. Mark Jhones P. Garo, Assistant Director for Academics.

Under this program, teachers who are currently functioning as guidance advocates will be required to enroll in Master of Arts in Education Major in Guidance and Counselling at SFAC. After graduation, they will take their licensure examination to become licensed guidance counselors. GSBE, the main implementer of the program, will assist the participants from their enrollment up to their licensure examination.

This initiative of the School President is just part of his master plan to improve the quality of Franciscan education and student services. He is confident that through this program, SFAC will be able to produce and deploy more competent and efficient guidance counselors who will meet the demands and expectations of the young generation.
