Franciscans Commemorate the Life of Jesus on Ash Wednesday

As a catholic-oriented school, Saint Francis of Assisi College values religious events such as the observance of Ash Wednesday. It symbolizes the dawn of the Lenten Season which is one of the most important event in the Catholic Community. Lent is a 40-day season marked by fasting, reflection, repentance, and celebration. It represents the 40-day period of Christ’s time in the desert where he was tempted by the devil during fasting. Lent season encourages the believers to give time to focus on Christ’s life, sacrifice, ministry, and resurrection.

Last February 26, 2020, Saint Francis of Assisi College observed the Ash Wednesday through praying together. A lay minister also visited the school to bless the students with Ash, as how the Ash Wednesday is being traditionally celebrated.
