Featured Teacher of the Week: Ms. Catherine A. Perez

By Alexis Mei F. Paulin
Office of the Program Supervisor for English and Research

The idea of research might be stressful and daunting for students but that’s not the case with Ms. Catherine’s class. She welcomes her class with such enthusiasm and energy that it didn’t feel like distance learning at all. Her cheerfulness easily transforms the learning environment into something enjoyable and worthwhile. Indeed, William Butler Yeats was right when he said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”

Ms. Catherine is not only a teacher with great personality but she is also competent in teaching the subject matter. She uses various tools in delivering her lessons and checking the understanding of the learners. She even gamified one of her assessments! She used Blooket to measure the retention of learning competency while students have fun.

Another great thing about her is that her effort for her students is not limited by the conference sessions. She even designs her work week plan in Schoology aesthetically and systematically that students find it easy and pleasing to visit their course. Surely, the students will find it easy to fall in love with the Research subject having a passionate and dedicated teacher like Ms. Cath!
