Chairman of the Board's Christmas Message

orosco-a-sr_mediumAnd the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.

This is the good news of Christmas - that God is with us and not in some distant sort of way, but with us in an entirely tangible way, entering into our chaos, through the nativity at Bethlehem, through the blood and suffering of Mary, through the birth of the baby Jesus. At the heart of Christmas is God’s most precious gift to us – His beloved Son who steps into human history, takes on human flesh, and identifies with our joys and pains. This is the beginning, the meaning, and the reason why we have Christmas, and why we celebrate it.

Christmas is the day that holds all time together. It celebrates the ageless story of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is the time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness. It is, the time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest God’s presence in our lives.

Christmas began in the heart of God, it is complete only when it reaches the hearts of men. As a Franciscan community, let us put Christmas in the air by putting Christmas in our hearts first. Every time we love, every time we give of ourselves, it is Christmas. Let us all cherish peace and goodwill and be bounteous in mercy. Let us honor Christmas in our hearts and keep it all year round.I wish you and your families a blessed and joyous Christmas. More than this, I pray that your lives be filled with greater love, greater harmony and a greater and brighter hope for the future.
